Kanye West has responded to Issa Rae after jokes made at his expense during a recent appearance on Saturday Night Live (SNL).
The actress, 35, hosted the recent episode of the NBC series, and during a particular skit, titled Your Voice Chicago, Issa played the role of a counsel woman for the NAACP.
Discussing the upcoming Presidential Election on a mock talk show, Issa’s character gives her support to every potential black politician possible, no matter how bad their credentials or past might be.
However, she didn’t have the nicest thing to say about Kanye when it came to making a comment on the presidential race.
‘Kanye?’ she questioned. ‘F him!’
Following this, the rapper has since taken to Twitter to share his own piece of mind.
Posting a screenshot of a Google search for Issa, he wrote: ‘I’ve always said SNL uses black people to hold other black people back.
‘My heart goes out to Issa Rae. I’m praying for her and her family. I know that the twenty years of service that I’ve paid in the entertainment field has furthered our ability to be more successful.’
In the meantime, Kanye, 43, has been working on his own presidential campaign, and recently shared a video, in which he promised to help ‘build a stronger’ America.
He stated: ‘America, what is America’s destiny? What is best for our nation, our people, what is just, true justice?
‘We have to think about all these things together as people, to contemplate our future, to live up to our dream, we must have a vision.’
The message then became heavily inspired by religion, as Kanye, who is a born-again Christian, continued: ‘We as people will revive our nation’s commitment to faith, to what our constitution calls the “free exercise of religion”, including of course prayer.
‘Through prayer faith can be restored – we as people are called to a greater purpose than ourselves.
‘We are not only a beacon to the world but we should be servants to each other, to encourage each other, to help each other, to lift up each other, our fellow Americans, that we may all prosper together.’
Saturday Night Live airs weekly on NBC in the US.
