Dortmund give Manchester United renewed hope of signing Jadon Sancho

Manchester United’s hopes of signing Jadon Sancho have been boosted after Dortmund’s CEO admitted no player is ‘unsellable’ at the club.

The 20-year-old was a leading target for the Red Devils in the summer transfer window and he agreed personal terms with the club over a move to Old Trafford.

Dortmund set United a deadline of August 10th by which to sign Sancho and they were clear it would take a bid of £108million to do so.

However, United felt Dortmund’s deadline was arbitrary and felt they could talk them down from their valuation by letting the clock run down in the window.

While United were not named, Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke says the club’s position on Sancho was ‘misjudged’ but he left the door open to the Red Devils by admitting every player has a price.

‘[They] misjudged the situation. We had a clear line and will continue to do so next summer,’ said Watzke.

‘In this industry, you can never say that a player is completely unsellable.

‘I heard and read everywhere in the spring that Sancho was gone. But he’s here. We had an agreement with him.’

United signed Amad Diallo and Facundo Pellistri – both right wingers – on deadline day after their failure to land Sancho.

Nevertheless, the former Manchester City winger is still considered a priority for United and they could attempt again to sign him in January.

Sancho has two-and-a-half years left on his deal at Dortmund but the level of interest in him is expected to be far bigger next summer.
