Tyra Banks got some backlash on social media over the way she treated some of the America’s Next Top Model contestants over the years she hosted the show. The supermodel has been accused of being rather ‘insensitive’ towards them and now, she is responding to the criticism she’s been getting because of it.
As it turns out, looking back at it, Tyra agrees that she’s made some ‘off choices.’
This all started with some throwback clips from America’s Next Top Model resurfacing and going viral.
As a result, many people were reminded of how cruel some of the lead judge and host’s words were and also how insensitive some of the challenges the girls had to go through were.
But it’s safe to say that it’s been a long time since then and Tyra has had a lot to learn in the meantime.
So when she responded to the criticism yesterday, she admitted that she sometimes went a bit too far on the modeling competition that debuted in 2003.
However, she did not exactly apologize for it!
‘Been seeing posts about the insensitivity of some of the past ANTM moments and I agree with you. Looking back, those were some very off choices. [I] Appreciate your honest feedback and I am sending so much love and virtual hugs [red heart emoji,]’ the famous supermodel wrote.
People have obviously been pretty mad about Tyra shaming the girls over their physical appearance.
While at the time, society was less aware of how harmful that can be, today that would definitely not be accepted on any show anymore so it makes sense that the resurfaced, viral clips from America’s Next Top Model caused some outrage on social media!
