A man was fatally wounded in a shooting Saturday in the unincorporated Los Angeles County community of Willowbrook.
The shooting occurred at approximately 7 a.m. at the intersection of East 118th Street and Willowbrook Avenue, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau reported.
Deputies responding to a call of a traffic crash found the victim inside a black vehicle with several gunshot wounds to his upper body. He was rushed to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
“Detectives are continuing to canvass the area for possible witnesses, evidence or video surveillance,” said Sgt. Edmo Luna of the Sheriff’s Information Bureau. “No suspects found and no firearm recovered.”
It was not immediately known if the shooting was connected with a car plowing through some fencing near Watts, at 117th and Alameda streets, at 7:14 a.m., which forced the closure of Metro trains in both directions.
The sheriff’s Homicide Bureau asked anyone with information regarding the shooting to call them at 323-890-5500.
