A car plowing through some fencing near Watts Saturday forced the closure of Metro trains in both directions in South Los Angeles.
The crash occurred at 7:14 a.m. when a vehicle drove the through the fencing and over the right of way of the A Line train near 117th and Alameda streets, according to Metro spokesman Dave Sotero.
“The car is out of the right-of-way, but law enforcement has requested Metro to suspend train operations in both directions in this area,” Sotero said. “Northbound trains will turn back at Compton Station and southbound trains will turn back at 103rd Street/Watts Tower Station.”
Metro requested a bus bridge to operate between these stations, he said, and A Line train service was suspended in the area until 2:45 p.m.
There are no reported injuries to passengers, and no train was involved.
