The tragedy of dying Oliver’s health crisis in Coronation Street has pushed poor Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson) to the edge – and as she refuses to accept the prognosis that she will lose her son, she is ready to fight the battle through courts, no matter what the cost.

While Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson) is currently supporting her through this, Tracy (Kate Ford) has been the one to speak out and say that it’s not realistic for a solution to be found.

And when Nick (Ben Price) challenges Leanne as she continues her battle, she loses it with him and their relationship hangs in the balance.

With the final hearing date set, Leanne suggests they need to get the German doctors on side and call them as medical experts. Steve says he’ll fly to Germany in a bid to persuade the doctors to lend their weight to Oliver’s case.

A besotted Gail helps Sam set up his fundraising stall in Victoria Garden. But when she warns Natasha to keep her hands off Nick, Natasha’s fuming.

Wendy introduces herself to Leanne and explains that she’s been elected as Oliver’s Guardian. Leanne’s hostile and accuses Wendy of siding with the doctors. Embarrassed Nick apologises for her tone but Leanne rounds on Nick, furious that he should apologise for her.

Suki, a journalist friend of Natasha’s, tells Nick and Leanne she’d like to help by telling their story in a bid to boost fundraising. Leanne talks candidly about Oliver’s condition but when Suki mentions his impending death, Leanne loses it.

Apologetic about the article in the Gazette, Natasha tells Nick she’d like to make a donation of £20k to Oliver’s appeal.

Steve returns from Germany and breaks the news that Dr Schmitz remains adamant that Oliver isn’t a suitable candidate for treatment. Leanne’s devastated and when Natasha calls and tells Leanne how she’d like to donate £20k to Oliver’s fund, Leanne turns on Nick. Why has he kept this quiet?

Leanne’s outraged, suspecting Nick refused Natasha’s money because he’s given up on Oliver. Leanne orders Nick to accept as they need her money to pay the legal fees.

Steve tells Leanne how sorry he is that he failed to secure the help of the German doctors. Leanne assures him he mustn’t beat himself up as he did his best. Nick confides in Gail that he fears Leanne is fighting a losing battle but he can’t tell her as she would see it as a betrayal. Gail urges him to be honest with her.

But will this lead to a final split as Leanne fights the final fight alone? A fight she tragically seems destined to lose?
