Linda Rayfield has joined in on the Great British Bake Off tradition of penning a heartwarming goodbye note about her time on the show.
The 61-year-old retirement living team leader became the latest to leave the tent after falling short during pastry week – but remained positive throughout.
As a result, her letter is just as sweet and will make you crumble more than her pastries.
She wrote: ‘Hello Everyone,
‘Where does one start, Rowan would say. I love him so much!
‘It’s always great meeting new people and being part of the GBBO family this year has to be one of the best experiences of my life.
‘I’m in awe at Love [Productions] managing to make the programme under the circumstances and wanted to say a ‘Big Thank you!’ for looking after me so well.’
‘I’ve felt so valued throughout this experience and have met some lovely people,’ she continued. ‘Everything I’ve read about the show has been amazing and I’m so proud to have been part of GBBO 2020.
‘Thank you Everyone for your lovely comments. I’m really excited to see who wins! Scream!’
Linda unfortunately was shown the tent door after tripping up during the technical and showstopper challenges.
This week, while she did well with her samosa-inspired pasties, Linda came last in the creme patisserie technical, with her pastry tart cage showstopper breaking before she was able to present it to Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood.
Speaking after the elimination, Linda told the cameras: ‘I can’t really be sad. I’ve been a child at Disneyland really.
‘It’s been amazing. one of the highlights of my life.’
Prue expressed her sadness at seeing Linda go, but said: ‘She’s a very good baker – but she had a terrible week.’
‘I know I can bake, I just hadn’t done enough,’ Linda said. ‘I am so proud of myself.’
Great British Bake Off continues Tuesdays at 8pm on Channel 4.
