Strictly Come Dancing star Neil Jones is said to be ‘devastated’ after being reportedly dropped as a competitor from this year’s show.
The star will now serve as a group dancer on this year’s series, according to the Daily Star Sunday.
This comes despite his success dancing with footballer Alex Scott last year – his first time dancing with a celebrity.
A Strictly source told the publication: ‘After a lot of discussion it was decided that Neil will be dropped from the line-up of professional dancers, so he won’t be partnered with a contestant.
‘He will still be part of the show, but only in group routines.
‘So viewers won’t see much of him any more.’
The news comes amidst rumours that Neil’s ex, fellow Strictly pro-dancer Katya Jones, will be in a high-profile match with Nicola Adams: the show’s first same-sex pairing.
The source added: ‘This year he will watch Katya be the centre of attention while he sits on the sidelines.’
Neil joined Strictly as a group dancer in 2016, and was called up to the main line-up for the first time last year.
The pro and Alex were the 10th to be eliminated in the competition – with Emmerdale actor Kevin Fletcher and his partner, Oti Mabuse eventually taking home the crown.

Strictly Come Dancing 2020 kicks off on BBC One in October.
