Little Mix’s new talent show began tonight, and while viewers were loving the first episode, they couldn’t help but spot the little One Direction references that were dropped in throughout.
In their new BBC series Little Mix: The Search, Perrie Edwards, Jade Thirlwall, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Jesy Nelson are all hunt for the next best group.
During the first instalment, the girls wasted no time in auditioning a number of male singers for their first band.
Each singer performed a song of their choice in front of the band before they decide whether to put them through to the ‘band room’ or to send them home.
The girls then had to whittle it down from 10 singers to just five.
Although, throughout the episode, viewers couldn’t help but notice the references to the boyband.
The contestants were loving a 1D song as Elliott kicked it off by singing Night Changes.
In the ‘band room’ one of the lads also referred to Liam from One Direction as being ‘the big voice of the group’.
And it didn’t go unnoticed that many of the lads mentioned to Little Mix that they would love to be in a band like 1D.
And why wouldn’t they? They were one of the biggest boy bands in the world.
Taking to Twitter one viewer commented: ‘How many times we mentioning one direction haha.’
While another said: ‘Why is everyone singing One Direction?’
One added: ‘Why do they keep linking everything to One Direction?’
Little Mix: The Search airs on Sunday at 7pm on BBC One.
