Ever wondered what Sir David Attenborough and Louis Theroux would look like in cake form? Well, thanks to Great British Bake Off, you no longer have to imagine.
Two contestants decided to create the television legends out of sponge for the very first showstopper challenge of the brand new series, which kicked off tonight.
Judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith tasked the bakers to make a 3D cake bust of their personal celebrity hero and they had just four hours to do so.
Pantomime producer Lottie opted to sculpt documentary maker Louis from coconut and lime cake with a chocolate orange buttercream.
Meanwhile, Sir David was made with a coconut sponge and was layered with a raspberry meringue buttercream by hopeful Sura.
‘He is a ledge. I love him so much,’ Sura enthused as she discussed Sir David.
‘Have you ever met him?’ asked co-host Noel Fielding.
‘No. Course I’ve not met him,’ Sura replied, before Noel joked that the documentary maker was coming to the Bake Off tent.
The judges were somewhat impressed by the bakes.
Complimenting Sura’s Sir David, Paul said: ‘I think overall, it’s quite smart, it’s neat. You’ve done a good job there.’
However, he wasn’t completely bowled over by Lottie’s Louis.
‘You get all the flavours of the orange, lime and coconut, but it’s over-baked and very dry,’ he critiqued.
Viewers were quite frankly terrified by the cakes and shared their hilarious reaction on social media.
‘That Louis Theroux cake is truly gonna give me night terrors,’ wrote one.
Echoing a similar sentiment, another posted: ‘I’m scared of some of those cakes.’
Yep, we don’t be sleeping tonight.
Bake Off continues on Tuesday at 8pm on Channel 4.
