Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp urged his players and backroom staff to savour the moment as the Reds finally got their hands on the Premier League trophy.

Klopp’s side won the league back in June but they had to wait until their final home game of the season before they could lift the title at Anfield.

They did so after an enthralling 5-3 win against Chelsea and though Liverpool were 4-1 up at one point, a brilliant cameo from Christian Pulisic threatened to put a slight dampener on the celebrations.

However, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain scored towards the end to ensure Liverpool won in style and the game was wrapped up heading into injury time.

Klopp has kept a lid on celebrations as he was keen for his side to continue their fine form after being crowned champions but he allowed himself to indulge moments before the end of the game when he turned to his bench.

With no fans able to attend due to the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic, Liverpool said the idea for the trophy lift was to honour the club's fans, but Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp urged fans to respect social distancing measures, after thousands gathered around the club's stadium and in the city centre following their coronation as champions last month. Accoding to beIN Sports, Klopp said to his players and backroom staff: ‘Enjoy this moment. This is a very special night’

The Reds lifted the title on a spectacular customised podium in the Kop, before returning to the pitch to sing a rendition of You’ll Never Walk Alone.

It’s Liverpool’s first title since 1990 and the Reds are now the current World, European and Premier League champions.

Liverpool’s win means they went the season unbeaten at their Anfield home and a win on the final day against Newcastle means they can better last season’s tally of 97 by finishing on 99 points.

‘We are champions: it’s the truth,’ said Klopp.

‘We won four trophies, big ones. I couldn’t be more proud. Usually I don’t need pictures with something, but I will have a picture with all four trophies, it doesn’t happen too often.’
