Small Brush Fire Ignites in Cathedral City

A two-acre brush fire broke out Sunday near the border of Cathedral City and Rancho Mirage, though no one was injured.

The fire was reported at about 8:50 a.m. near railroad tracks located south of Interstate 10 and east of Da Vall Drive, according to Cathedral City spokesman Chris Parman.

He said the fire was contained and that the nine engine crews that responded were mopping up the site to make sure all hot spots are extinguished.

The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
