Michael Barrymore has been slated as a ‘master manipulator’ by Stuart Lubbock’s father Terry ahead of a new documentary into his son’s death, Barrymore: Body In The Pool.
Stuart was found floating in the pool of Barrymore’s Essex home on 31 March, 2001, with the case remaining open as Essex Police fail to conclude what happened.
It was later determined that he had been anally raped by an unknown object prior to his death.
Terry has continued to fight for justice 19 years after his son’s untimely death and uncover the truth about what happened that night.
While Barrymore has continued to maintain he had no knowledge of what happened and had no input into his death, Terry is demanding answers from the nine other people in attendance who have never spoken out.
‘He’s a clever man. He is a master manipulator, there’s two sides to that man, a dark side and the side you see on television,’ Terry said of Barrymore ahead of the documentary airing.
‘Over the years I’ve had a glimpse of his dark side, I think it’s time that everyone sees that side to him.’
According to The Sun, he added: ‘I hope that the penny will drop with everyone and they will question him and what he did that night.
‘The police should have nailed it. He needs to put whoever killed my son in the spotlight.’
Barrymore: Body In The Pool is an in-depth look into the investigation of Stuart Lubbock’s death, and the police failings around the case that has meant it is still unsolved.
Terry, as well as Stuart’s brother Keith, are among the family members of Stuart who appear in the film, discussing what happened in the aftermath as they continue to search for justice.
Police who took part in the original investigation are also interviewed, as are the two coroners that overlooked Lubbock’s autopsy.
TV star Barrymore, as well as the other partygoers, declined to appear in the documentary, but he has continued to maintain his innocence.
Metro.co.uk have contacted his representatives for further comment.
Barrymore: The Body In The Pool airs Thursday at 9pm on Channel 4.
