Justin Bieber has opened up on his use of hyperbaric chambers to keep his anxiety under control, as wife Hailey Baldwin labelled the contraptions ‘rich people’s sh*t’.

Sharing an insight into his personal life in YouTube docu-series Seasons, the Yummy superstar was seen getting in and out of the chambers, while also enduring IV infusions to help his body recover from years of drug abuse.

In the short episode, Justin revealed he relies on anti-depressants to ‘help me get outta bed in the morning’, the singer was then seen climbing into one of the hyperbaric chambers in his studio, with wife Hailey on hand to often zip him into the space-age item.

‘I’ve abused my body in the past and now I’m just in the recovery process trying to make sure I’m taking care of my body and taking care of the vessel that God’s given me,’ he said.

What even is a hyperbaric chamber? It’s a highly-pressurized tube (which can cost thousands to use) where someone is given pure oxygen to breathe, with the air pressure said to be three times higher than normal pressure outside.

At this higher air pressure, the lungs are able to take in more oxygen than under normal conditions – which is said to aid in certain recovery processes, including that of anxiety.

Explaining the process, Justin – who last year revealed he’s been sleeping in the contraptions – continued: ‘It fills up with oxygen. I really have been struggling with a lot of anxiety. You get more oxygen to your brain so it decreases your stress levels. It’s pretty cool.’

In the documentary, Justin chronicled his weed addiction as well as his consumption of lean (a liquid opioid) and illicit drugs.

After getting sober, he was then diagnosed with anxiety, chronic mono, and Lyme disease, which can cause lethargy, anxiety, and heart palpitations.

In an aside Hailey admitted the various chambers Justin uses to keep his symptoms under control, at home and in the studio, would look a little strange to those on the outside.

‘People are going to think he is a crazy person,’ she said. ‘People are going to be like “what is this contraption machine, that’s some rich people s**t.”‘

But Justin was adamant it was needed to get on top of his mental health, which is evidently something important to him these days.

He said: ‘If you have ADHD if you have … something and you don’t want to take medicine, I strongly believe in it.’
