John Boyega and Daniel Kaluuya looked super happy to see each other as they crossed paths on the red carpet at the 2020 Baftas.
The actors were among the A-list stars who descended on London’s Royal Albert Hall on Sunday night for the ceremony, which saw 1917 and Renee Zellweger take home some of the biggest prizes.
While making their way around the red carpet stopping to take pictures and give interviews, the actors enjoyed a lovely moment when they spotted each other on the night.
A clip shared by Bafta on social media saw Daniel pull John in as they shared a tight hug while laughing together.
John can be heard saying: ‘I knew you were back in the city, bruv’ before the pair casually admire each other’s suits.
They have come a long and the big smiles on their faces seemed to acknowledge that.
Props have to go to the Star Wars actor for his Baftas attire, which was a beautiful red suit and a white shirt with black loafers.
Meanwhile Daniel stepped out in all black everything, wearing a black suit and shirt that had a cool white accent on the collar.
He later posed with Bafta Rising Star winner Michael Ward, who recently appeared in Top Boy and Blue Story.
Speaking to press on the red carpet, John recalled what it meant to him to win the Rising Star award.
He explained: ‘It represents support from the industry, eyes are on you and now people are confirming that all the hard work that you’ve done, we see you keep on doing what you’re doing.
‘Such humility to call it Rising Star, you’re still in the process of figuring out your identity in this industry. And that’s a nice pat on the back.’
The Baftas saw a few unexpected wins on the night with 1917 picking up the big prizes including best director for Sam Mendes and best film, seeing off competition from Joker, The Irishman, Once Upon A Time…In Hollywood and Parasite.
This year’s Baftas shortlist came under fire when not a single non-white actor was nominated in any of the acting categories yet Margot Robbie was nominated twice in the same one.
