Al Pacino had a dramatic fall on the red carpet at the 2020 Baftas in London as he represented his film The Irishman.
Pacino, 79, had been nominated for best supporting actor for his role in the Martin Scorcese directed film.
As the actor made his way around the red carpet at the Royal Albert Hall on Sunday night, he took a tumble while heading up a short flight of steps.
He was quickly helped to his feet by people around him and seemed to be all good as he continued with his night.
Speaking on the red carpet he praised working with Robert De Niro in the film, which was released on Netflix.
‘He’s great, the thing with Robert is you can do anything. That’s the pleasure I have of working with him.’
‘I think I was very lucky to be a part of it,’ he went on, ‘really good script by Steve Zaillian. Sometimes we forget about the writer. He’s written, that’s a big thing. With a film you start with a script.’
In his category he faced competition from Tom Hanks for A Beautiful Day In The Neighbourhood, Anthony Hopkins for The Two Popes, Joe Pesci for The Irishman and Brad Pitt for Once Upon A Time…In Hollywood.
Ultimately it was Brad who scooped the prize, but was unable to attend the event itself leaving Margot Robbie to collect his trophy.
Joker was up for the most awards with a huge 11 nominations including best film, best director, adapted screenplay and leading actor for Joaquin Phoenix.
It was shortly followed by The Irishman and Once Upon A Time In Hollywood which picked up 10 nominations apiece.
Renee Zellweger triumphed in the best actress category for her performance in Judy Garland biopic, Judy as Joaquin Phoenix took home best actor for Joker.
1917 scooped the big prize of best film, seeing off competition from The Irishman, Joker, Once Upon A Time..In Hollywood and Parasite, and its director Sam Mendes took home the gong in his category too.
This year’s Baftas shortlist came under fire when not a single non-white actor was nominated in any of the acting categories yet Robbie was nominated twice in the same one for her roles in Bombshell and in Once Upon A Time In Hollywood.
