Chrissy Teigen Credits Bone Broth With Helping Her Overcome Postpartum Depression

Chrissy Teigen has been very vocal about her struggles with postpartum depression, and the mother of two is revealing the surprising food that helped her through it.

OB/GYN and New York Times columnist Jennifer Gunter tweeted about the “scam” of renaming soup stock as “bone broth,” but Teigen, 34, begged to differ.

“Real bone broth is rich with marrow and deep flavour,” she wrote in a reply to Gunter’s tweet.

“Chicken stock is… water,” she continued. “When i was suffering horribly from postpartum depression, I was covered in bruises, had no energy and no ability to sleep. I attribute much of the physical aspect of getting better to bone broth.”

Teigen continued to sing the praises of bone broth in followup tweets, declaring that “if some stupid thing I buy makes *me* not want to jump off a building that day, I considered that a win.”

She concluded by admitting that “most broths suck and are capitalizing on the trend,” but pointed out that bone broth “hasn’t been a trend for many people around the world, it’s a common way of healing and life…”

Back in 2017, Teigen wrote an essay for Glamour about the depression she experienced after she and husband John Legend welcomed daughter Luna.

“I didn’t think it could happen to me. I have a great life,” she wrote. “I have all the help I could need, but postpartum does not discriminate.”
