First it was a movie, then it was made into a musical, now Mean Girls is being made back into a movie.
Paramount has signed on to make the musical production of Mean Girls into a feature film.
Tina Fey, who wrote the original, will also write the film as well as the produce the movie alongside “SNL” producer Lorne Michaels.

“I’m very excited to bring ‘Mean Girls’ back to the big screen. It’s been incredibly gratifying to see how much the movie and the musical have meant to audiences. I’ve spent 16 years with these characters now. They are my Marvel Universe and I love them dearly,” Fey said in a statement.
The news also came along with the announcement that the Broadway show is heading to London’s West End in late spring 2021.

Michaels added, “It has been a joy to work on ‘Mean Girls’ and to watch it go from film, to musical, and now to musical film. I am very proud that Tina’s story and characters continue to resonate with new generations. We are all excited to continue to work with Sonia Friedman and her team as we prepare for London.”
No release date for the movie has been given.
